Sustainable
Raw Materials

Bio-based Material.

At CORDENKA, our commitment to sustainability starts with our main raw material: wood pulp. This essential ingredient is both bio-based and 100% renewable and is primarily sourced from the USA. The wood we use comes from plantations, so we ensure that no wood from virtual forests is used. We carefully monitor our pulp suppliers to ensure that they use sustainable forestry practices. Our suppliers are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC), the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI).

FSC® Certified Raw Material

For customers who are interested in specific certifications, we offer CORDENKA Rayon® products with the FSC Mix claim.

Sustainability and circular economy

We actively contribute to improving environmental performance throughout the value chain, which in turn improves the environmental impact of our end products and enables our customers to prevent microplastic pollution. Because Rayon is an enabler of the bio-based circular economy.

Renewable raw materials and energy use

One of the most important issues of our time is the climate crisis, which requires co-operative solutions from a wide range of relevant parties, including authorities and partners in the value chain.
In addition to fully sustainable-certified raw materials (FSC®), CORDENKA is also committed to the topic of energy and to the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to reduce
CO2 emissions. With every measure implemented, our product becomes even more sustainable and its CO2 footprint decreases.

Bio-based and bio-degredable

Our raw material is certified bio-based.
Our products are certified bio-degradable.

Bio-based

Cellulose is the most common biological polymer in the world and is obtained from wood. Our material is certified biobased according to ASTM D 6866:2022.

Bio-degredable

Cellulose has excellent biodegradability compared to other polymers such as PLA, PBAT or other bioplastics. In particular, certification according to NF T51-800:2015 in home and garden compostability emphasises the low-effort biodegradability.
